October 14, 2002

In the dark cavern the old god is laughing
the dragon is loosed and his red breath is rising
Weep, weep as your dancing
moves through the streets
weep as you move through the valley of darkness
weep as you go forth where maids will be maidens
weep as your lovers lie in the streets
weep for the broken bones of your lovers
the young men, the joyous, the dancers
the breath of the old god winds through our streets

Old women, the grandmothers
the mothers weep in the rooms, in the houses
the streets. Weep for your dead sons ye fathers
of the young men, weep for the lost
and the lost generations
Weep for the young men
weep in the streets.

In his dark cavern the old god is laughing
the breath of his laughter rides though the streets
in the dark byways the young men are sleeping
the young men are sleeping
the young women weep.
