In memory of Heather Morton Tracey
poet and friend

Last summer she came to the poet's circle
a flash of colour, a yellow frock
a crown of flowers
a long necklace dangling
bright earrings
Knowing full well what lay ahead

Today we read her last poem
remembering laughter
and believing as we read
the final line: that she was going
into the light.
